Description

From Power Boat Guide 2019:

Originally marketed as the Solo 43 in 1998-2000, the Selene
43 (called the Selene 45 since 2010) is a long-range trawler
whose traditional pilothouse profile conceals a practical and very
innovative interior. By any standard, the 43 is a handsome yacht
with a Portuguese bridge fronting the house and a salty, go
anywhere appearance. In the salon, the Selene’s unusual center
galley arrangement allows passage around both ends, either up to
the pilothouse or down to the forward living quarters. Also unique,
part of the guest cabin bulkhead folds away to create a large
common area abaft the master stateroom. The Selene’s salon, while
not spacious compared with other 43-footers, is furnished with an
L-shaped lounge aft and barstool seating at the galley. A watch
berth and inside access to the flybridge are found in the pilothouse,
and the entire interior is highlighted by solid teak joinery and a
teak-and-holly sole. Additional features include a washer/dryer,
two chain lockers at the bow, a hinged swim platform, and a huge
“commissary” storage area between the engine room and lazarette.

Overview

Partial listing of Items/equipment not necessarily evident in pictures or different from what may be found on other boats.

Salon/Galley:

Wood is all cherry wood throughout boat.

Seaward Princess LPG three burner stove & oven with Xintex SA2 Alarm monitor and two LPG tanks above on fly bridge.

LED ceiling lights throughout boat.

Microwave and cabinet.

Norcold refrigerator/freezer—two way-12vdc or 120vac

Exhaust fan above stove.

Considerable storage in drawers and cabinets.

Controls for the Inverter are located next to the back doorInverter in commissary under galley floor with storage cabinets.

Pilot House:

The pilot house has a typical array of electronics including radar, autopilot, VHF radio, compass, speed and depth displays, GPS, etc.

The autopilot has a remote control (cabled) that can be operated from the bench.  A navigation program (Tiki Navigator) is loaded onto a laptop computer along with AIS to receive information about commercial and recreational boats wired to transmit data.  Although the electronics are adequate for coastal cruising, this is one area where updating may be desirable.  Of course, that may be true if you buy a boat 5 years old.

Pilot doors are “dutch-style doors” both port and starboard.

A “watch berth” is built-in behind the pilot house bench.

Bow thruster controls for the 24V Side-power bow thruster which is powered by two 24 “D” batteries with dedicated charger is located next to gear shift and power controls.  Relevant controls are duplicated on the flybridge.

The remote starter for the Westerbeke 12kw diesel generator located in the engine room is in the pilot house.

Electrical panel with all electrical switches is also located in the pilot house.  A high-quality ice maker is located in a cabinet next to the stairs into the pilot house.

Guest Quarters

This room has a unique bi-fold door design which provides privacy while maintaining a more open area with a few adjustments.  Guests have said the two bunks are comfortable and the room has adequate storage for several days.

Engine Room

The engine room is, well, an engine room.  Contained within are the systems for the Vacuflush head system, the K12 generator, the water heater, six 6V golf (house) batteries, a dedicated starting battery, and a dedicated generator battery.  Fuel tanks with sight gauges line both sides, are fed from a Racor filter for the engine and a second Racor filter for the generator.  Most of all is a sweet Cummins engine that keeps on giving.

Guest Head

The guest head is located directly across from the guest quarters and has a walk-in shower and ceiling exhaust fan.  This  unit also has counter top, washbasin and mirror.

Main Suite

As noted in the pictures, the cabin has an island berth arrangement with a 5” foam mattress.  Side lockers and forward locker surround the bed with top opening lids.  A hanging locker is located on each side at the foot of the bed with considerable storage areas in cabinets and drawers.  A small TV is located in a recessed cabinet at the foot of the bed.  The room is wired to provide AC current from the inverter should it be required for such things as c-pap machines.

Main Head

The main head holds a bath tub with an integrated shower and exhaust fan, washbasin, counter and mirror.  The Jabsco electric macerator head is located under the vanity and expels into the holding tank or overboard if off-shore.  There is also a gauge to determine the space available in the holding tank.

Miscellaneous Data

The pictures of the cap rails are an attempt to show the care they have received as well as to show the covers that protect them.  The deck holds a twin anchor assembly for a “Bruce like” anchor with 400 feet of BBB 3/8” chain rode and a 43lb Danforth type anchor with 25 feet of 3/8” chain and 250 feet of 5/8” rode.  There is also a Sampson post, an anchor- grabber” and line.  There is a100 foot 30 AMP  electrical cord and 50’- 50 AMP cord.  Miscellaneous lines are included as well as six PFD’s.  An emergency tiller is located in the lazarette.
