Description

A classic Marshall Californian LRC—sea kindly and safe—this vessel has been maintained with care by her current owner for over 30 years. She’s a comfortable liveaboard with a large fuel capacity (500 gallons across four tanks) and economical Perkins engines. At 8–9 knots, she sips fuel at approximately one mile per gallon.

Originally referred to as America’s answer to the Grand Banks, the Californian now has a following as a classic in her own right.

Accommodations:

Port and starboard sliding entry doors from the wide side decks provide access to the salon and inline galley.

The salon features:

  • An L-shaped settee with a dining table that converts to a bed
  • A desk with bar cabinet and drawers
  • Multiple storage lockers throughout

The lower helm is situated to starboard beside the starboard entry door. Wraparound 360-degree windows provide excellent visibility and natural light.

Forward accommodations include:

  • Stacked berths with storage beneath
  • An overhead escape hatch
  • A desk with drawers and a hanging locker
  • Chain locker in the bow
  • Secure storage locker above the desk (starboard side)

The forward enclosed head includes:

  • Manual Jabsco head
  • Vanity with stainless steel washbasin
  • Separate stall shower

The aft stateroom features:

  • Double berths to port and starboard
  • Aft hatch/companionway with fold-away stairs for direct access to the aft deck

This layout is ideal for enjoying morning coffee on the island deck. Additional storage includes:

  • Three hanging lockers
  • Two sets of drawers

The aft head compartment includes:

  • “Half tub” with shower and sliding doors
  • Manual Jabsco head
  • Long vanity with stainless steel washbasin
  • In-counter storage, plus three drawers and under-sink storage

The sole is fitted with parquet-style vinyl tile throughout (except the forward head), complemented by traditional rugs for added warmth and comfort.

Both heads are freshwater flush only.

Galley:

  • Seaward Princess 3-burner stove with oven, including built-in rotisserie and broiler
  • Magic Chef refrigerator (AC only)
  • Two deep stainless steel sinks
  • Generous counter space and storage
  • Dedicated trash storage (locker previously housed a compactor)

Propulsion:

  • Twin Perkins 185 HP turbocharged diesel engines

Hour gauges were turned off at:

  • 517 hours (port)
  • 671 hours (starboard)

Reason unknown. Based on voyage calculations, the seller estimates no more than an additional 800 hours have been added.

The vessel has primarily been used as a liveaboard, with several annual trips to Santa Catalina, along with local whale watching and harbor cruises.

  • Cooling systems were borescoped around 2022 and found to be clear
  • All mechanical systems have been maintained in good working condition
  • Onan 7.5 kW diesel generator with sound shield
    • Hours unknown
    • Fully operational
